George Will? Really?

9 03 2009

Now, maybe I read this article too quickly because I sure as heck don’t feel like reading much this Sunday evening.  But it appeared to me after my speed-skim that George Will agrees with Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma author) about what’s wrong with our food industry today, in short, beef, corn, and gasoline.  Don’t get me wrong:  I don’t have it out for George Will just because he’s a conservative and I’m a liberal, or something equally simple and flat-out wrong.  In fact, I used to work for a well-known former senator of the conservative persuasion, and I’ve generally been a fan of George Will for as long as I’ve been reading his columns.  But I do find it surprising that he’s even jumped on this bandwagon … and it helps to confirm for me that it’s not just a lot of hullabaloo.  It matters what you eat, and what what you eat eats.
